Kuniko, the daughter of a servant, gets married to Soichi, the oldest son of the Ataka Family and inherits an enormous fortune. However, rumors abound that she married Soichi, who is mentally disabled, only for his money. Kuniko dedicates her love to the innocent Soichi, but her seriousness only leads to Soichi’s suffering.
At the same time, Joji, Soichi’s younger half-brother, despises his older brother, and his repeated business failures eat away at Soichi’s fortune. On the threshold of bankruptcy, Joji and his wife, Masako, move in to live with Soichi and Kuniko. Soon, Soichi falls in love with Masako’s kindness, making Kuniko strongly jealous of Masako. Meanwhile, Joji plots a conspiracy to steal the Ataka family fortune.
