This touching story is about a man who raises the children of a good friend who had died. His love and courage enable him to overcome countless trials and tribulations.
At the funeral hall, Katsuo bursts into tears in front of the congregation. A good friend who had looked out for Katsuo during college has died in a fire. Adding to the misfortune, the friend’s wife has fallen into a coma. With their mother comatose and their father dead, the couple’s children are separated from each other to live with different relatives. Katsuo feels obliged to do something about the situation, for he hadn’t forgotten the kindness his long-lost friend once showed him. He finally decides to take in all of the children. Finding Katsuo to be annoying at first, the children reject him. However, as time passes and they come to appreciate Katsuo’s warm nature, they gradually open up to him.
