One moonlit night a spirit, Coathicarte Apa Langranges who has unparalleled power, met a lonely boy, Pholon, on the roof of an orphanage.
The spirit said, “want you to be mine, only mine. I want to have the expression of your soul all to myself. What do you say?”
Those were the words to make a contract. It was a sacred ritual to take a pledge. However, to the boy the whole thing seemed just like a dream.
Time passed, and the pledge was awoken by one event.
The main character of this story, Pholon Tatara, is a student of Torvas Divine Song Players Academy which trains Dantists. Though he is in contract with a cute spirit, Coathicarte–the most powerful spirit, he is struggling with something very crucial as a Dantist; he cannot play special music called “Divine Song” well and may not even be able to pass his course.
Love and growth of Coathicarte and Pholon as well as their school life are depicted; they run into various incidents, get into danger and fight together. This story presents realistic messages through character interaction and revolves around the big theme–mutual understanding between humans and spirits that belong to two different worlds. The unique world of Polyphonica, consisted of spirits, humans and Divine Songs, unfolds again.
